This is one of the most fabulous carved bog oak stanhope pendants you'll see. Designed to be either a pendant, charm or watch fob, this is a highly detailed carving of an owl complete with vivid orange googly eyes. Complete with bail and jump ring it features a pristine and clear stanhope view of Dublin Ireland. The stanhope shows six tiny photos of popular tourist destination in Dublin. Dating from the Victorian Era, the views are all individually titled and it predates the requirement to be marked "Made in France". The main title found in the center is "A Memory of Dublin" and the six individually titled photos are as follows:
Bank of Ireland
Saint Patrick's Cathedral
The stanhope and the pendant are in as perfect condition as one could hope to find. the stanhope is graded among the absolute clearest quality ever produced. the layout is the same as other stanhope lenses found marked "McKee Dublin" however this one is not marked as such. It likely predates that marking as well. The only malady that could be considered a sign of wear is the slight amount of orange color missing from one of the eyes. This shows better in the photos than it does to the naked eye. We believe the eye must have been made that way as the pendant does appear to be in mint and unused condition. A real charm for any stanhope antique collector or wearer! It would also be the highlight of any Owl or bird Miniature Collection.
