Early Miniature Dollhouse Bible Book is made of ivory colored Bakelite. The core, where the pages in a book would be found, is composed of raw cork that is in very good shape particularly for it's age. The Bakelite cover has exhibits some minor scratching and chips along the edge(s). They don't really detract and they show up better in the images than in person. The chips may be original and not necessarily from use or wear. The books title "Lords Prayer" is embossed or impressed in the cover and filled with gold gild or paint. A stanhope lens in the front cover of the book shows the Lord's Prayer. The image is legible but parts of it are missing. I would say the view is a bit obscured and it is not in fine condition. It could be restored if desired. There is no bail or chain or other attachment for this item. It is one of the few true dollhouse stanhopes ever to be made. It measures 28 mm tall x 22 mm wide x 8 mm thick or about 1-1/8" x 7/8" x 5/16".

All in all, it's not a real common stanhope item but we have seen others on occasion. It would make a nice doll house decoration or accessory and an interesting conversation piece. It is priced to sell.

Item ID: ANT-150205-01

This item is eligible for stanhope restoration. The cost would be an additional $65 if desired.
