From the mid 20th century, a pristine Akoya pearl necklace! This timeless and sweet necklace comprises of 119 creamy lustrous Akoya cultured pearls which have a stunning creamy glow radiating from the surface of each pearl. The pearl size is meticulously calibrated from 6.10mm largest at front, working its way down to 3.00mm near clasp. A classic princess length on the neckline- the overall length of necklace measures 45cm or just short of 18" inches. The pearls are hand strung straight on white silk, it is firm and does not need restringing. The necklace is beautifully complemented with what appears to be the original sterling silver marcasite clasp. The pretty clasp features a 'rosette' design encrusted with marcasite gems and finished with milgrain edging for extra pizzazz ... adding an elegant touch to the back neck! A "Sterling Silver" stamp is seen to the reverse of clasp, denoting 925 sterling. The necklace comes in its original cream box, along with the little 21st birthday card, dated "17-11-59" which was found in box when I acquired the piece. All ready for the next owner to cherish and care for....
A timeless piece that would be suitable for bridal wear or a bridal gift. Or perhaps for that special birthdate looming. June is the birthstone month for pearl.
