A stunning antique choker, dating back to the late 19th century. An impressive neck piece which would easily fit into todays fashion..
The front of necklace features an encased 1/2 sovereign, depicted with the head of crowned Queen Victoria facing left and surrounding words - "VICTORIA DEI GRATIA 1891". The reverse of coin has a crowned shield with foliage and surrounding words BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: 1891. A t-bar elegantly suspends from jump rings below coin. Coiled and polished 9k gold connections attach to grosgrain ribbon either side of coin. About halfway down each side of grosgrain ribbon features lovely engraved shield plates, adding a regal touch! Complementing 9k gold attachments connect at each end along with two rolled gold swivel clasps.
The sovereign casing, attachments, including shields are crafted in 9k gold, the colour is the lovely antique rose-yellow hue. T-bar and swivels test as rolled gold.

HALLMARKS: Difficult to decipher - possibly 'I' '9' & 'Q' (stamped to shields reverse)
LENGTH: 35" inches long and 16mm wide
CONDITION: Beautiful Antique Condition! Besides light surface wear consistent with age, there is no apparent damage to the attachments or ribbon links.
