This exquisite, one-of-a-kind, heavy sterling silver locket features a wonderful grooved scroll decoration along the sides, the front is engraved to top and bottom leaving the centre plain if you wish to engrave with initials. Adding intrigue to this locket is the design of the opening - there is a groove along the side which allows your fingernail to open into two, it securely closes once in place. As almost all lockets are hinged, the opening reflects more like that of a box, compact case or small compartment of some sort which makes me think this has been cleverly converted to pendant at some stage of it's life.
Attached and included is a solid belcher necklace, 58cm/ 22.5" in length. There are no stamps to necklace, however has been XRF tested as 925 Sterling Silver. The heft and design of belcher necklace compliments beautifully with locket.
There are some crisp hallmarks placed inside locket; "JEH" and "D" in square cartouche and stamp of what depicts an 'eagle'. After some research , we can not identify the hallmarks to provenance or age.
