Here is a stunning vintage sapphire and diamond ring hailing from the Art Deco era, circa 1930. Handcrafted from 18ct yellow and white gold, it features a captivating emerald cut early Verneuil sapphire at its center, showcasing a sumptuous velvety blue 'Kashmir' hue and weighing an estimated 2.20 carats. The ring is beautifully flanked by ten dazzling round Swiss-cut diamonds, set in upswept leaf shoulders adorned with intricate milgrain edging, enhancing its vintage charm. A recent high dome band, measuring 2.90mm wide with double grooved sides, adds durability and completes this beautiful ring. Finger size of the ring measures M or 6 & 1/4.
Developed by French chemist Auguste Verneuil in 1902 Verneuil gemstones, also known as flame fusion laboratory, were the first commercially successful method of manufacturing synthetic gemstones, particularly rubies and sapphires. During the Art Deco era, the demand for Verneuil synthetic sapphires was high, it was a new exciting phenomenon of the era and can often define the period of such pieces.
An elegant vintage sapphire and diamond ring, it would make a perfect choice for a vintage engagement ring!
