Comments: This beautiful medal features the profile of Gallia, the symbol of Gaul. She wears a winged helmet. She has braids and she faces mistletoes. She might be also the goddess Druantia, the hypothetic Gallic goddess of her evergreen boughs. She is also the queen of druids. The back depicts a blank scroll with mistletoe. This medal was made at the very beginning of the 20th century, during the Art Nouveau. We can see the cypher of the maker: JBTRivet. Oria is gold plate with a lovely quality from Paris. The company Oria started making jewellery since 1900. Recognized in France as a 'marque de qualité' Murat and Oria makes high fashion and traditional jewelry pieces both in silver and high specification gold plate with a long life span and the appearance of old-fashioned rolled gold. That 's explain why the surface of the medal is a bit used. Art Nouveau's style was strongly inspired by this kind of design: flowers, nature, birds and makes any jewels of this period very poetic.
