A "+ que hier - que demain" French pendant/ love charm by A. Augis, c.1960, 18kt white gold
This lovely French medal pendant was made by Augis. It weighs 2,3gr and measures 23,4 x 16 x 1,1 mm (the bale is included in the high). The plus is set with a rose cut diamond and the minus with 3 rectangular synthetic rubies. The medal is signed A.AUGIS on the right. This medal is made in 18kt white gold.
It is wrote in French: " + qu'hier - que demain ": "I love you more than I did yesterday and less than I will tomorrow.”
The French saying comes from the verse of the poem wrote by Mrs Rosemonde Gerard to her lover and husband: Edmond Rostand, the famous French writer of Cyrano de Bergerac, a dramatic love play. Alphonse Augis, a French jeweler's from Lyon, made a love medallion with this verse written on it. There is the maker's mark is legible on the the hinge. There is also the French eagle's head.
The first medals were made from 1907, this one is around 1960. It is in very good condition.
