This lovely 18kt yellow gold and platinum features a deep red almandine garnet surrounded with 20 rose cut diamonds. It dates from the late of the 19th Century.
It bears the French hallmark for 18kt yellow gold : the owl, visible on the hinge of the pendant. It weighs 3,7gr and it is in good condition for this period. It measures 27 /1 x 14,9 /0,5 x 8,6 / 0,3 mm / inches. The cabochon is set secured with gold prongs and the diamonds are set on platinum on an airy mount. Those one are a bit chipped otherwise there are quite lively and sparkly. It was tested as 18kt gold and platinum by our lab.
Almandine Garnet celebrates two years of wedding anniversary. It was used a lot during the second part of the 19th century. It's a must have in our jewelry antique box !
