Ideal’s composition baby doll called “Princess Beatrix” was made in 1938 to commemorate the birth of the newest princess of The Netherlands. The metal eyes with glassine eyes roll back and forth. Molded curls tumble onto the baby’s forehead. The hands are clenched into little fists, a true indicator of the true Princess Beatrix. She wears a cotton undershirt, and a batiste dress with puffed sleeves which are embellished with lace. Zig-zag pink machine embroidery decorates the hem. A crocheted bonnet and doll socks finish off her outfit.
While an extensive restoration has not been necessary for this doll, retouches have been repainted on the top of the head, and in the eyes: the whites have been touched up, and pupils have been painted in.
