Stunning ans super rare Georgina iron cross necklace. Made in Berlin 1820s. Berlin Iron jewelry was created in the early 19th century as a means to raise money for the German treasury that was frighteningly depleted fighting the war with Napoleon. Wealthy German aristocracy was asked to turn in their gold jewelry for the war effort. Iron jewelry was given in return to show their patriotism. It is rare and mostly to be discovered in museums.
