This is a rather large pendant designed by the well known Mexican silversmith Miguel Melendez. He apprenticed with William Spratling, worked for Los Castillo and was the workshop manager for Margot de Taxco. This pendant is made of sterling silver inlaid with crushed dark green stone. It measures 3.50" in diameter at the widest part. It is slightly curved and does not lay completely flat. It has a very large bail so that it could be put on a thick chain or some type of heavy cord. It is stamped Sterling Hecho En Mexico, an m which is Miguel's hallmark and the eagle with a three inside for Taxco. Excellent condition. The weight is 45.94 grams.
