This round tray is made of black and red lacquer over wood. The background is a lovely sort of tiger stripe design. Carved into the tray is a scene with a bridge and trees in the background. The edge is turned up slightly. On the back is the artist's name and the place and date--Christmas day 1953. Measures 12 7/8" in diameter and is 3/4" high. There is a 1/2" area on the side where a piece of lacquer is missing and the wood is exposed. There is also another very tiny piece missing on the side. There is some type of milky residue above the carving that I wasn't able to remove.
