I bought this covered bowl from an estate where the gentleman collected a lot of Chinese and Japanese pieces. This covered bowl was probably used for rice or some other food item. It has a very thick shiny glaze on it. The inside is quite stained and there is a hairline crack that goes through to the outside of the bowl. The lid also has a hairline crack. The opening diameter is 4 7/8" and the height with the finial is 3 1/2". There is much cracking of the glaze on the bowl and some areas where the pottery is showing through.
