William Pogany (1882-1955) was a prolific Hungarian illustrator of children's books such ad Alice In Wonderland and Mother Goose. He was also an author of three books covering drawing, oil painting and water color. This book was published by David McKay Company in 1946 and is a first edition. Some of the topics covered are Perspective, Shading, Balance and Motion, The Head, The Figure, and Portraiture. There are many illustrations with pencil drawings and diagrams. The book has paper covered boards with a cloth spine and is bound with a plastic comb spiral. There is quite a bit of wear on the boards and the spine but the inside pages are quite clean. The first page and the top half of the second page are detached from the spiral. Since it is a book that was not read just once but referred to often this wear is to be expected.
