I bought this dress from a woman who said that it is a Stanley Platos although it does not have a label. She said that she paid $700.00 for it in the 1980's. I did some research on him and learned that before starting his own company in 1982 he worked for Givenchy and Valentino. He specialized in festive evening and cocktail dresses. They were sold by Saks, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. He died in 1991.
The top part of this dress is made of iridescent sequins on a black background. The bottom part is silk paisley. The upper back is completely open. There is a loop and button at the top. At the waist is an 8" zipper and tab and bar closure. There are 3" zippers at the bottoms of the tapered sleeves. There are thick shoulders pads as was very typical of the 1980s'. There are two belt loops in the front but I don't have the belt.
I would say that it is a size 2 or 4. The flat measurements are as follows: Armpit to armpit 36", Waist 26", Hips Free, Sleeve length from shoulder 23", Length from back of neck 41" and Across back of shoulders 15.75. The width of the bottom of the sleeves with the zippers closed is 7". I do see a few missing sequins especially around the neckline. Otherwise excellent condition.
