The lid of this compact resembles guilloche enamel but I don't think that it is. It looks more like a piece of bright green fabric or paper covered by a thick piece of plastic. The bottom is made of gold mesh. This very well may be a Whiting & Davis compact as they were very well known for this type of mesh work. There is a powder puff inside but I'm not sure that it is original. There is wear on the surface of the mesh tiles. The mirror inside the lid has some damage but you can still see yourself in it without any problem. The hinge is secure and the lid closes tightly with a click sound. It measures 2 7/8" in diameter.
