This is quite an unusual soapstone box that has different shades of green, the predominant one being celadon. On the lid is a bust of a woman wearing a period outfit. Her outfit looks to be made of painted pot metal but her body and face feel like celluloid. There is an 5/8" etched design around the lid of the box. There are some words scratched into the bottom of which the only one I can make out is Italy. The measurements are 6" X 3 5/8" X 2 1/8". There are a few tiny chips on the seams and one large corner chip on the underside inner corner of the lid. It can not be seen when the lid is on the box. There is also some white powdery substance here and there. Maybe it held powder at one time. There is some brown residue on the underneath. Not sure if it would come off or not.
