Infant Jesus of Prague, Santa Nino, Jesus de la Praga, Prazske Jezulatko Polychrome Plaster Statue.
This is a very nice example of a religious plaster statue. Depicting the infant Jesus of Prague ( also known as Santa Nino, Jesus de la Praga and Prazske Jezulatko) holding a globus cruciger (orb and cross) and with three fingers raised in blessing on his right hand to represent the holy trinity.
His deep red robes with opulent gold embellishments represent royalty. He has a very beautiful life-like face, with a childish openness and innocence reflected in his features.
Condition is excellent, especially considering the delicate plaster medium and age of this piece. There is the odd tiny area of paint loss but it is very minor. A possibility of a small amount of paintwork touch up but if this is the case it has been done very well and in the distant past.
