Peugeot are famous for manufacturing cars, motorcycles and bicycles but have also been producing coffee and pepper grinders for over two hundred years.
This particular grinder is a thing of beauty as well as being a nice historical piece of engineering.
Created from cast metal on wood this piece would look fabulous mounted on a counter top in a vintage style restaurant or a family kitchen.
There are brass plates to the front stating the Peugeot brothers name and makers mark and pouvre which is the French word for pepper. The makers details are also cast into the body of the grinder.
Ground pepper is collected from the little wooden draw at the bottom which is lined in what appears to be silk.
Condition is excellent for the age and this piece is ready to mount and use. There are two holes cast into the base of the grinder to make mounting a simple and straightforward process.
