This 19th century etui has a leather case with a tooled gilt border which has a fitted velvet and silk interior with an all original complete set of 18k gold sewing implements; comprising of stiletto, bodkin, thimble, scissors and needle-case, all items are marked with the impressed eagles head. This is the French gold guarantee hall mark for 18k gold which was introduced in 1838.
These charming 18k gold tools all have a bright-cut pattern of delicate vine leaves all original and complimenting each other.
The vine leaf pattern (both sides) 18k gold handled scissors have steel blades which are still very sharp right through to the points,
The 18k gold thimble is fabulous with the vine leaf pattern all around the base the vines incorporates an empty shield ready for a monogram if the new owner wishes.
The 18k gold stiletto top incorporates the bright cut vine leaf pattern on both sides it has a diamond steel cut shaft with a sharp point.
The 18k gold bodkin also has the vine leaf pattern both sides. this I believe this to be a great tribute to the workmanship of it's time as the piece is so fine and yet the pattern is perfect.
The 18k gold needle case has the vine leaf pattern on all for four sides. It has a good sturdy opening. ( if I am to be picky there are a couple of small dents to base which could be done for some reason in the making)
Otherwise all implements are in stunning condition. Please see photo's for clarification.
