Very attractive water colour painting of an early 19th century gentleman in typical dress.
This is an accomplished portrait and shows a gent in a bright blue jacket over black and white formal garments below. This is typical of a well-to-do gentleman of this time, as is the hairstyle and "mutton chops" style facial hair.
In an ebonized frame with gold coloured trim to the glazed oval. This is an elegantly simple yet eye catching picture.
The brown paper backing may not be original but has certainly been in situ for many years.
The condition of both painting and frame are very good for the age. Please see the photographs for clarification.
