This stunning blue and white meat platter with tree and well design was made by Jules Vieillard in Bordeaux France between 1845 and 1865.
The three interlocking cresents mark tell us that the piece was made at this time and who by. The grés translates as "rock" so the platter is made from stoneware.
The blue and white decoration is beautiful and features a castle or palace in the centre. The border being vines and Asian inspired pheasants amongst foliage and other decoration.
The "tree and well" are designed to collect the meat juices.
The condition is excellent for the age with no chips, cracks or restoration. Please see the photographs for clarification.
