Heisey has always been known for elegant glassmaking and the company produced their "Octagon" Line # 1229 between 1925 and 1937. This is their two-handled Individual Nut in their hard-to-find "Hawthorne", a delicate transparent lavender color, made only between 1927 and 1928. I have two available.
The dishes measure 3-1/4" in diameter (4-1/4" from the outside of the handles) and stand 1" high. The handles are open and the base ring is factory ground and polished. The Heisey logo is embossed in the center of the base.
Originally manufactured to hold nuts, it would also be ideal at a place setting for cocktail sauce, sour cream, etc.
No chips, cracks or fleabites. Minimal wear. The white spots and streaks in photos are from the lighting and flash.
