This beautiful Pall originates from continental Europe. It dates back to the 18th Century and is opulently embroidered with real Silver thread. The Metallic Floral Stumpwork is conducted magnificently in typical High Baroque Designs.
I polished some of the Silver Thread with a Silver Polish Cloth and the oxidized Silver started shining again (please see pictures).
The pall (palla) is a stiffened square card covered with white linen, usually embroidered with a cross, or some other appropriate symbol. The purpose of the pall is to keep dust and insects from falling into the Eucharistic elements.
Considering its great age it is in good antique condition. (Please see pictures)
