This beautiful Polychrome Gesso Relief depicts the 10th Station of the Cross where Jesus is stripped of his garments. It is a typical work of the German Nazarene movement (Gothic revival) of the second half of the 19th century.
It shows the cross on the ground while two man tare down Jesus clothes. Not only the paintwork is very magnificent, but also the 1/2 inch deep Relief makes this piece vivid.
Condition: Good antique condition with only a few minor chips of paint.
Measurements: 8 inch diameter by 1 inch deep .
