This magnificent Oil Painting was painted between 1890-1910. It is executed magnificently and a true gem of animal painting. It shows a typical Landscape of Germany with a lonely Bull on a hill. The painting is signed by the Artist on the lower right.
About Otto Fikentscher (* 6. Juli 1862 in Zwickau; † 26. Februar 1945 in Baden-Baden)
After Highschool in Zwickau Otto completed an apprenticeship as a sculptor. He studied at the "Kunstgewerbeschule in Dresden" from 1880 on and from 1884 on at the "Akademie München". In 1888 he followed his teacher Hermann Baisch to the "Großherzoglich Badische Kunstschule Karlsruhe". In 1891 he bought the castle "Augustenburg in Grötzingen", where he did not only live, but also gave accomodation to the painter colony of Grötzingen. In the same year he got married to the painter Jenny Nottebohm.
He traveled a lot to Hungary, within Germany and to North America. His most important works and themes are animals, very often in typical landscapes.
It is painted on a canvas and comes in a beautiful Gold wash Gilt frame.
Measurements: painting - 14 1/2 X 18 1/2 inch with frame - 16 1/2 X 21 Inch
Condition: There a a few tiny spot on the painting and a chip in the frame on the upper right. Overall in good condition. PLEASE SEE PICTURES.
