This is a beautiful 18th Century Creche figure from Naples. The beauty of her silk dressing with laced appliques - partially with metal thread - make her a very special and rare find. She was most likely designed for a noble home. The older lady has has a very pretty face with molded grey hair in a bun and glass eyes. Her face, hands, and feet were intricately designed out of terracotta and then painted Polychrome. The body, upper arms and legs were made with hemp stuffing.
Measurements: 17 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Condition: The head and the feet are in excellent condition. Three fingers on the right hand and parts of one finger on the left hand are missing. The dress is complete but has some age related tearing and discoloring. The dress is partially attached with pins (since the former owner must have attached it at some spots we only cleaned it and left it the way it was). We like to preserve our items in antique condition and leave it up to our customers if they like to restore them.
