This Lovely 19th century religious art is a carving of Meerschaum. This soft and slightly porous material was often used for art carvings and pipes in the 1800's. This one is beautiful, a deeply carved cameo of a saint holding an eternal flame / sanctuary lamp / everlasting light. It is very intricately carved out of the Meerschaum and a Monastery Work (a devotional object made by a monk, friar or nun). It is a very detailed work from Continental Europe (most likely France or Germany)
Measurements: 2 3/4" by 2 1/4" by 1"
Condition: In good condition. Beautiful Patina with a small chip on the top (Please see Pictures)
