This beautiful German baroque Sculpture depicts Jesus Christ. It was once part of a large Crucifixion Scene. He only wears a cloth around his hip which has the typical baroque movement. With his closed eyes, wounds, very detailed carved head and muscles he looks almost real. It was made in the first half of the 18th Century. Most likely he was part of a big Altar back in the day. By the mid 1800's a lot of Baroque Churches in Germany were replaced with bigger ones. Due to that many decorations of the old churches were demolished. That might be the reason that he lost his arms.
The Stature is in good condition. It has a beautiful patina and comes un-restored with its Polychrome color. Obviously the arms and the Cross of the Crucifix are missing. (PLEASE SEE PICTURES)
It is circa 37 Inch tall by 12 Inch wide by 7 inch deep
