This beautiful antique German paper punch & embroidery Commemorative of Reserve Trooper was hand made. It originates from Germany and dates back to the late 19th Century. It is opulently embroidered with beautiful thread, Metallic Stumpwork, a Wax Relief decoration, two fabric flags, a beautiful Picture of the German Emperor ( Kaiser Wilhelm the second ), a photo of the Soldier and real dried flowers. The flowers include Gentian or in German "Enzian" a very typical flower of the Alpine region and nowadays very hard to find. The embroidery is conducted wonderfully in detail. The Photo shows the Soldier in his uniform.
The Poem in German states the following:
"Ruft einst das Vaterland uns wieder - als Reservist - als Landwehrmann - so legen wir die Arbeit nieder - Und folgen treu der Fahne dann - Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit."
Translated it means: If once the fatherland will call us again - as a Reservist - as a man of the Territorial Forces - we will lay down tools - and follow the Flag instead - Memory to my term of service"
The needle point / embroidered art comes in it's original wood frame with gesso details and beautiful original Gilt.
The piece is in very good condition. (Please see pictures)
