This fine crafted Beautiful Baroque Carved Gilt Wood Cherub is not only beautiful but also a magnificent Console. It is a very rare find since it comes from the Rural Region of Westphalia in West Germany. It used to be part of the decoration of the baroque church of Waldhausen ( a village near Warstein ). This church was built in 1625 and was demolished in the beginning of the 20th century. This beautiful and significant example of Westphalian Baroque luckily survived. With its symmetrical design, typical decor, bold appearance and typical wood craft it is a perfect example of Baroque Art of the 17th century in this Area. Featuring Elaborate Hand-Carved Detail with Gilt. Incredible Decoration for a stunning room. It comes in stunning polychrome colors and has been craved out of wood.
Condition: It has a beautiful patina and vibrant colors - it appears that some conservation and restoration work was done in former times. The condition is good with just a few paint chips (Please see Pictures)
