This beautiful Oil Painting of St Anthony of Padua is a typical example for early 19th Century. It dates back to 1800-1825 and is a true Gem of sacred Art. It is a commissioned work and therefore - as almost all commissioned works - not signed. None the less it is magnificent and has beautiful colors and intricate details. As often he is depicted with the little Jesus Child and a white Lily.
Most likely this picture originates from the alpine German area. It comes in a beautiful late 19th Century - early 20th Century Frame.

Noted by his contemporaries for his forceful preaching and expert knowledge of scripture, he was the second-most-quickly canonized saint after Peter of Verona.
