We are proud to present you this magnificent Renaissance Statue from the late Andres Laszlos Collection of 1000 years of Religious Sculptures.

The Handcarved Wooden Figure is a lovely depiction of Madonna - Jesus' Mother - during the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She wears the typical red and blue clothes while the ark angel Gabriel announces to her that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God. Mary has a surprised look on her face and holds her right hand on her chest. She is beautifully carved and has a stunning Polychrome finish. She is a typical example of Spanish Naive Renaissance Sculptures with late Gothic influences and dated back to circa 1430-1490. The figure was most likely carved in Castile in Spain. About 50 years ago - when this sculpture was displayed amongst the former owners gallery exhibits - the late Spanish Art History Specialist Maria Luisa Gomez Moreno validated the Virgin. The Statue comes with a copy of the last exhibition catalog where it is listed as item number 22. (Please see pictures)

Provenance: Andres (Andras) Emerico Laszlo (von Keller) - famous author - found this amazing example of 15th Century Craftsmanship in Castile, Spain. It was purchased in the 1940's or 1950's during Laszlos extensive travels through Spain and America where he gathered his collection of religious art.

Exhibitions: The last exhibition of this statue was during Laszlos last exhibition in 1969 at the Gallerie Jean-Francois Apesteguy in Deauville, France. The exhibition was called "1000 ans de sculptures primitives espagnoles". There were many more exhibitions of his large collection in the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and more. They were very well received and celebrities like the famous painter Joan Miró visited them (Please see the picture of Miro and Lazlo at one of his exhibitions)

Condition: The Polychrome Paint appears to be old and in good condition - minor chipping. Very good antique condition. Please see pictures.
