The Handcarved Wooden Figure is a typical example of Spanish Folk Art in Baroque times. The Putto or Cherub dates back to to circa 1650-1690. The figure was most likely carved in Northern Spain and once part of an Altar. While the whole body and part of one wing are original baroque, the other wing, the coat of arms and the stand are later additions. It has a nice its symmetrical design and bold appearance - very typical for Northern Spain during that time. It is an incredible Decoration for a stunning room.
Condition: It is in good antique condition. As mentioned before, one of the wings and part of the second wing were restored in former times. Also the polychrome finish, the coat of arms and the stand he is sitting on are later additions. It has a nice patina. (Please see Pictures)
