This amazing 17th Century depicts Julius Caesar sitting in a horse drawn carriage with an army of legionars to his side . It is a wonderful scene of the early Roman Empire and has amazing detail. It also features the Roman Banner "SPQR" - an acronym of a Latin phrase, Senātus Populusque Rōmānus ("The Roman Senate and People") and a Roman standard.
It has no indication of an author or printmaker. The style, paper and technique used indicates it was made in the later half of the 17th Century. It was beautifully matted.
