This beautiful German 19th century cast bronze bell was made 201 years ago. It has the inscription "Nider Vorschutz 1814". It means that it was part of the lower avant-garde during the Napoleonic Wars. Most likely it was carried by the Austrian or German advance guards of the military for signals. It has a beautiful shine and a light patina to it. The bell itself was made out of solid bronze while the bell tongue is made out of wrought iron. It has a beautiful clear sound when being chimed.
Size: Base diameter is 5”. Height from bell base to top of handle is 4 1/2”.
Condition: It looks very nice and sounds amazing. It has two small dents and a small chip on the rim. The handle is partially broken. PLEASE SEE PICTURES.
