This detailed map is an original steel engraving. It was published in 1854 in "The Illustrated London News". It shows a large map of the Caucasus region. It is a region located at the border of Europe and Asia, situated between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. It is home to the Caucasus Mountains, which contain Europe's highest mountain, Mount Elbrus. The Greater Caucasus mountain range acts as a natural barrier separating Eastern Europe from Western Asia. It was the Seat of the Asian War back in the 1850's. The reverse side of the engraving is a page of the "The Illustrated London News" of June 3rd 1854. It would look even more beautiful when framed in a simple frame.
