A wool french kepi - the standard military hat with its signature horizon band and crown, white piping, along with gold braided crescent moon and star for the corps. Most likely produced in the 1950's - stamped on the inside by E Cholet of Marseille. One of the most distinctive styles of military hats in the world is the french kepi, which was originally developed from the Casquette D'afrique worn as a replacement to the shakos in hot climates.
A great addition to your military, hat or french collection.
