This detailed picture is an original steel engraving. It was published in 1856 in the "Illustrierte Zeitung". It shows the masked Ball of the Artists in Düsseldorf, Germany. The ball was held during the Carnival Season of 1856 in the famous concert hall "Alte Tonhalle" in the grand Geißlersche Room where even Mendelsohn performed. The reverse side of the engraving is a page of the "Illustrierte Zeitung" of Feburary 23th 1856. It would look even more beautiful when framed in a simple frame.
Published : Leipzig, Germany 1856
Size : circa 10 3/4 x 15 1/4 inches
