This beautiful - one of a kind - Hatbox / Chipbox / Bandbox is a rare 1900's Art Nouveau find. It is completely made out of chipboard and is called "Spanschachtel" or "Hutschachtel" in German. It was magnificently handpainted. The Lid is decorated with intricate Polychrome Floral Designs typical for Art Nouveau. The Box itself was painted in a very interesting "Marbled-technique". It has two makers marks stating "Köngl. Kunstgewerbe- und gewerbliche Zeichenschule zu Cassel" meaning "Royal arts industry and commercial drawing school in Kassel".
Measurements: circa 15" by 8" by 4 1/4"
Condition: The Box is in good condition. It has age consistent wear. Please see pictures.
