This amazing 17th Century copper engraving depicts a biblical offering scene. It shows a king kneeling in front of a statue with a burning Altar and a group of people behind him. Next to him are two sheep. Burnt offering rituals are found early in the Book of Genesis in the bible.
It has no indication of an author or printmaker. The style, paper and technique used indicates it was made in the last quarter of the 17th Century. It was beautifully matted.
