This beautiful Naviculum was is a stunning example of baroque craftsmanship. Also called an Incense Boat because of the long and narrow shape of
the vessel. A Naviculum or incense boat has a hinged lid to permit a partial opening of the vessel. This allows some of the incense grains to be accessed and spooned out, while holding the rest of the boat's contents inside.
This Naviculum was made in the middle of the 18th Century and shows amazingly wrought details. The chased designs are partially copper and brass plated. This traditional design of the Naviculum is very rare nowadays. A highly collectible Devotional Object with more than 250 years of history.
