Here we have an interesting collection of demi-tasse souvenir spoons of all fifty states, along with Washington D.C. Made for a store or souvenir shop window, the overall design is colorful, well balanced and visually striking. The display is made of heavy cardboard, while the spoons themselves, arranged in an oval, are backed by dark blue velvet. The spoon for Wash. D.C. is mounted on a velvet cutout resembling the Washington Monument. The small, plated spoons are arranged in alphabetical order starting at the top, and each has an enameled shield representing a symbol of that state. Backside we can see the display's easel and the proper position for the mounting of each spoon. Probably from the 1960's, given that both Alaska and Hawaii have their own spoons and were not granted statehood until 1959. Enjoy this visual treat which I feel would appeal to a wide range of collectors from many categories.
Size : 19 1/2" (49.53 cm) Tall // 14 1/2" (36.83 cm) Wide // 6" (15.24 cm) Deep - The display folds flat for easier packing.
Condition : Overall excellent. Bottom corners have some wear and some minor moisture ripples bottom left (near 'Ideal Gift'). Narrow band of glue residue outer edge of white inner oval from 1 to 3 o'clock and again from 6 to 9 o'clock. A few pencil marks to backside. I was able to tighten up the elastic holding the Wash. D.C. spoon so that it now rests nice and straight.
