Here we have a smartly designed covered box by the German company Fraureuth c. 1915. The sectioned domed lid and gadrooned bottom are decorated with black and gold decorative elements reminiscent of the Secessionist movement, and in particular the Wienar Werkstatte. Deep cobalt blue panels separate these elements giving them space to breathe. Fully marked underside with factory marks and model/design numbers. This piece is fairly large and commands your attention, and may have been inspired by an architectural structure somewhere in Germany or Austria during this time period.
I've sold one of these boxes ~ 20 years ago, but haven't seen or owned one since.
Condition : Excellent aside from some minor wear to the black bottom shoulder from repeated use (see photo).
Size : 7" (17.78 cm) Tall // 5 3/4" (14.61 cm) Diameter
