Thomas Lee Bulson (1840-1945), Listed Albany, Boston, New Hampshire Artist. Very nice 19th century watercolor of a New Hampshire White Mountain landscape, 12" x 9" (framed size: 16" x 13") signed lower right: T.L. Bulson. Period frame has nicks, wear and a little missing molding on corners. Out of frame the watercolor appears to have very slight browning on edges. Great condition for it's age!
Bulson was an apprentice landscape painter in Albany in the 1860s. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design several times during the 1860s-1880s, including a watercolor of the Catskill Mountains in 1875. Bulson also exhibited with the Boston Art Club in the 1880s. A review of the National Academy Exhibition in The Nation in 1867 praised Bulson's "very delicate and minute pencil drawings." Bulson also illustrated Pigeon Cove and Vicinity (a book about the history of Pigeon Cove in Cape Ann, Massachusetts) published in 1873.
