Hand painted violets presented in gentle bouquets give this antique Limoges tea trivet rare beauty. A sense of innocence is created by these delicate little flowers, gathered sweetly as if by a child's hand. The artistry of the petals, curving stems and heart shaped leaves present a true floral portrait and the purple shadings upon the smooth white porcelain make for a striking presentation. The gold inner border serves as an elegant frame for the detailed painting. The embossed outside border is finished in rich cream and the scrolling porcelain designs have been left un-decorated, another statement of simplicity and of beauty.
The T&V red bell overglaze mark dates this piece ca. 1892-1907. The underglaze white ware mark Souvenir T&V France confirms the same dating. Tressemann & Vogt used 'Souvenir' to mark items decorated with famous people or for commemorative events.
This tea trivet measures approximately seven inches across and is in excellent antique condition with slight wear on the inner gold border. There are no chips or cracks or scratches.
