This vintage German porcelain plate is strongly rimmed with rich gold gilt and has an unusual presentation of three open gold handles. The blue back stamp dates earliest to 1904, latest to 1938, but given the art deco floral motif, circa 1920's is likely. Three boldly illustrated boughs of springtime flowers are in wonderful balance around the plate- in keeping with the three handle design. The flowers and buds pop in bright yellow and deep orange. They bloom from sprays of heart shaped leaves. Finely outlined in black, they are a perfect standout on the creamy porcelain.
Measured from handle across to the opposite rim, the plate is just shy of 8 inches. It is in excellent condition- no chips, no cracks. The smooth gold gilt edge is beautiful and has some very fine surface scratches. This an unusual R&S porcelain plate. It is simple and elegant and deco vibrant- an excellent choice for a special setting.
