More from Why? Why Not
Up for adoption are 2 vintage soft-bodied clown dolls. Gotta Getta Gund rings in my memory. This poor Gund clown is 63 years old. I know he is that old because my brother was born 63 years ago. I say poor guy because he looks to be in sad shape. His soft body is in quite good shape and his removable clown suit is still pretty good. But, his neck ruff is in very rough condition even though it still has its pom pom. Both the suit and the ruff are held on by safety pins which appear to be original. The elastic of the sleeve and pant cuffs is still in good shape. His plastic face is just beginning to show age with the beginning of cracking. His striped cap is also held on with safety pins, one on either side. The pom pom on the end of this stocking cap survives. His felt feet are in very rough shape as seen in the photos. The Gund label survives in good shape. The photos show both the front and back of the label.
The embroidered face clown is very dirty. He seems to be filled with sawdust. The stitching on his stocking face is in excellent condition. These clowns were stored in a dry, pet free / smoke free closet for 60 years. Sold in "as found" condition. Both need some careful cleaning and TLC.
