Fioriware was one of the famed Zanesville, Ohio potteries. Owned and operated by Maddy Fraioli, Fioriware put out a line of decorative ware in an old world Italian style design. Offered here is a lidded trinket box decorated in their traditional floral design. This one features one large five-petaled blossom in a light gray with yellow center and green leaves on top. The box has repeating yellow blooms around the entire perimeter. Both box and lid have a light cream color background rimmed in a wine color. All decorations are painted in underglaze with a crystalline overglaze. The bottom is left unglazed with the traditional Fioriware Art Pottery Made in Zanesville, Ohio stamp in black ink. All hand decorated, this piece has some minor glaze skips along the rim edge of the lid. 6 x 4.75 inch oval shape. 1.5 inches deep. The lid has a closing lip to help secure it while in place on the box. Closed in 2006, Fioriware is no longer being produced.
